Seed Swap 2016: Great Success!
It was a bright and sunny morning--the last Saturday in January.
That's National Seed Swap Day, if you live in 'Murica.
So we gathered. We traded. We talked about our own projects and shared ideas for future events.
I met about 10 new people, all of whom are creatively infusing their own lifestyles with the principles of sustainability and independence. Some are kids. Some are interested in sharing their skills with our growing community. Everyone is interested in learning more and connecting with others.
I got rid of some of my seeds and gained a few for personal use. But what's even more exciting is that one generous participant donated a BUNCH of seeds that she grew and harvested from her own yard. Exotic stuff like "moonflower" datura (it blooms at night!), moonbeam coreopsis and pink dinner plate hibiscus. They'll go into our seed library for people to access in the future.
So thanks to everone who came out! We're off to a great start. And if you know where I can pick up some old card catalog drawers, do let me know. They would make a great house for the seed library.
